South African War Memorial, North Terrace

The South African War Memorial, on the corner of North Terrace and King William Street, Adelaide, commemorates the Australian soldiers who fell during the Boer War, 1899 - 1902.

This Boer War Horseman Statue, of granite and bronze, erected in 1904, has recently been cleaned and restored, and unveiled on May 6th 2007.
Twenty thousand Australians served and about a thousand were killed in this, the Second Boer War.

Sorry about that, Monsieur B. We Poms did have a habit of throwing Australians at our enemys' guns.
Cool statue, though.
I've never seen a guy skidding a horse before.
