Today my friend Jacques, decided to show me his 'baby', a 1962 Austin-Healey Sptite Mark II.
Unfortunately, the rain gods decided to provide us with too much precipitation.
The mark II, from 1961 - 1965 was fully imported from Britain.
This example, however was built in Australia and was number 6 out of a total of 290.
He is very proud of the Brooklands Aero Racing Screens, which were fitted to racing cars in the 30's.

Jacques has a lot to be proud of. I don't think I've seen this mark before ... the Sprite model I know had a very different shape and I think was referred to as "Bug-eye". I do know I was very jealous of my friend getting a new one in 1963 or 1964 ... his parents imported it from GB for him. Lucky sod!

Hi, Chuck. The Bug-eye Sprite was produced 1958 - 1961 and was such a sexy little car. They really are a collector's car nowadays, as are the Mk. 2 and 3. They had a 948 cc motor and could do 87 MPH, ( I think ).

Dive, you probably had one, yourself ?

Babooshka, I can see you driving one of these on the Isle of Man, hair streaming out. They drive really flat on the road and steer with the throttle when you get the hang of it. Beats an MGB for the fun of it !

Just back from a few days in the north of Scotland so haven't been visiting - the link you posted on edinburghdp is absolutely spot on because the house on the corner is in fact that very same building!! They're just finishing the new informatics building as we speak.
