Kangourou, Kangaroo, Canguru, Känguruh, Καγκουρό.

Since we looked at the mating habits of Koalas, some time back, here is an other Australian marsupial, which is very well known all over the world. This female Kangaroo with her little joey in her pouch, lives in the Adelaide hills on the slopes of Mt. Lofty. We sometimes see them on the warm roads and wait for them to hop away. Kangaroos are featured on some Australian coins, and road signs warn of their presence on highways. Hitting kangas on a highway at high speed can have disastrous consequences and caution should always be taken, especially at sunset and sunrise.

Adorable Canguru !!!

I´ve never seen an image of one of them wit their little baby in it, soooo cute!!! But how do they fit there?! Amazing how nature has its ways. It must be really fun to see them by the road, specially when they start hoping! Love the photo M.Benaut!

Monica,
See how good my Portugese is?
When you click and enlarge the photo, you will see he (Bebê) has his legs sticking out. Search Wikipedia, Kangaroos and see more. I have ridden a motor bike in the outback on a station (ranch to some) and have been surrounded by two families of Kangas hopping along beside me. BOING< BOING< BOING !!!

Cute Shot M-B!

And I guess in keeping with the "mating" theme of these darling marsupials...at least you had them going BOING-BOING-BOING beside you and not BONK-BONK-BONK!

LOL! SORRY! I just woke up and haven't taken my night brain off yet!

Lame excuse...I tried! ;)

=)x

Kangaroos! You're so lucky to have them there- they're such fascinating creatures. Actually, almost all wild animals in Australia are so different from anywhere else in the world, it's always a treat to see them.

Big rabbits!

While I'm here I thought I'd let you know that I have moved my site on to Wordpress, unfortunately that means it's time to update those links again.......sorry.

The Wiki that you can use to copy and paste the links into your template/sidebar is very simple and usefull.

You really have to enlarge the pic to see the joey. I love the way their legs stick out as well as their head. Makes you wonder what sort of position they are in!

Dammit, MB!
Your country is beautiful; your weather is fantastic; even your wildlife makes the rest of the world look totally boring.
At least we can buy Tim Tams and Vegemite in Blighty now.
But I'm still a very jealous whingeing pom.

Thanks, guys,
We took my Son from Basel and his girlfriend to the hills and fed the Kangaroos.
She was able to send photos of us all with the wildlife back to Manchester.

Dive, old son,
AND we have Maltesers, just for you.

This is a very nice photograph and clearly shows what we have come to expect. A mother with the joey in her pouch.

Monica,
You clearly enlarged the photo to see the joey.
Ame,
You're a little Devil. Your spelling is a bit out, BANQUE>BANQUE>BANQUE. It all makes the same sound, M"AAAM.
Isabella,
They would EAT your alligators!
Curly,
I have taken your advice, merci!
Nathalie,
The closest wild ones to where we live is about 2 kilometres. I would love to see them more often, perhaps we will after we receive some rain and the grass grows.
Dive,
Remember the Maltesers, you must build your strength for your trip down under.
Freelancer,
We will name one in honour of you. Merci beaucoup.
Monsieur Le Président,
I will try hard to improve my photo skills aided by your excellent tutelage on your excellent blog. Merci encore.
