Une icône australienne

Quelquefois nos policiers ont l'air d'être plus jeunes que les criminels.
Ils portent aussi des chapeaux Akubra, une icône australienne.
Sometimes our policemen appear to be younger that the criminals.
They also wear Akubra hats, an Australian icon.

Ooh la la! Qu'est-ce que je peut dire? Miam? Noooo, c'est mechant.

So what had the 'criminal' done? Whatever it was, the lady in black found it amusing. Do tell.

I would wager that it involved alcohol in some form!

Cool hats!
I want one of those jackets with "LICE" written on the back.

Dive, it's very interesting that S.A. Police have recruited quite a number of British policemen. It has been a most successful move and they are extremely well received.

Lyliane, yes, I am sure that this is true.
J'ai aimé ce film, surtout la partie où le crocodile, il a essayé de mordre la fille qui portait le maillot de bain noir. Elle avait très joli derrière !!

Kris, Welcome to ADP.
You are entirely correct. He was marched into the cop-shop to await his parents and their displeasure.

lol M. Benaut, indeed.

Seems a good place for SOME British policeman to go huh, miles away in Australia... ;)

Lynn, they might be some of the best miles you ever put behind you, my dear.

On 29 March 2008 at 22:39:34 (Canberra time), the resident population of Australia is projected to be: 21,258,555.

21,258,554 people can't be all that wrong !

With the policemen and women, I think we 'got' some of your best. They're great people and have been received warmly.

M.Benaut said...

By the way; that's in 17 minutes from now.

This projection is based on the estimated resident population at 30 September 2007 and assumes growth since then of:
one birth every 1 minute and 55 seconds,
one death every 3 minutes and 58 seconds,
a net gain of one international migrant every 2 minutes and 51 seconds leading to an overall total population increase of one person every 1 minute and 37 seconds.

We know what's cooking down here, and tomorrow it may well be lasagne !

Bon soir M. benaut

I think that we must be doing a very similar trip!

I had a look on my fave booking site for Montpellier hotels, and for the date we want there was very littl availability. I have booked this one:

http://en.venere.com/hotels_montpellier/hotel_royal_hotel.html

Reviews seem kay-ish, and it's betwe the station and the centre, so seems ok.

I can cancel the booking if something better comes up.

There comes a time by the way when EVERYBODY looks young. My gall bladder surgeon seemed FAR too young. At least I guess his hnds were still steady!!

And now, bon nuit!

Sally

Bon soir Sally,
You're burning the midnite oil, ne est-ce pas ?
Bon nuit à toi !

(Just looked on the map, these 2 are about 10 metres apart.
Looks fine ! )

I wish that American police officers wore those hats. I think it would work better all around. It would be hard to feel intimidated when you are getting a ticket from a man in a nice little hat like that.

hat half cow-boy half british.
Do they make the policemen more impressive ?

Jilly said...

What do they say about policeman looking young? they've been looking young to me for too long now. I do like the hats!

And thankyou both so much for your kind and encouraging comments about my new camera and the photos it is producing.

Akubra hats, eh? The blue colour and checkered ribbon make the difference - these two don't look like jackaroos to me LOL

Dive, LICE ? LOL

Mme benaut, yes I'll take you to cloitre Saint Louis when you come, it's absolutely beautiful. The courtyard (the cloister itself) is open to the public and the hotel is worth checking out. A very nice four and a half star.
