Inondations à Townsville




Queensland Nord se prépare davantage à l'inondation après un jour de lourde pluie à l'ouest de Townsville.
L'inondation a provoqué au moins $3 millions dans le dommage aux routes et aux ponts et a inondé des maisons et des entreprises.
Un bas tropical a traversé la côte à Townsville tôt mardi, en apportant avec cela les chutes de jusqu'à 100 millimètres à l'ouest de la ville.
Le Bureau de Météorologie a publié un avertissement de temps sévère à 1500h. mardi. Il prédit quelques inondations rapides et vents malfaisants pour The Southern-Herbert et les régions Lower-Burdekin.
Les vents de jusqu'à 90 kms/h sont probables et on attend les inondations soudaines à Charters-Towers.
Floods in Townsville
North Queensland is bracing for further flooding after a day of heavy rain west of Townsville.
Flooding has caused at least $3 million in damage to roads and bridges and inundated homes and businesses.
A tropical low crossed the coast at Townsville early Tuesday, bringing with it falls of up to 100mm west of the city.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather warning shortly before 3pm Tuesday, predicting flash flooding and damaging winds for the southern Herbert and Lower Burdekin regions.
Winds of up to 90km/h are likely and flash flooding is expected at Charters Towers.

Typical Australia - it doesn't rain for 10 years and then in one foul swoop we get all that backed up water in one night - Huey has a twisted sense of humour I say!!!
