Madame cooks a ripper Pavlova
Tonight, with all the freezing cold temperatures all around the entire world, I will warm you up with a little Pavlova, (a meringue dessert named after the Russian ballet dancer, Anna Pavlova).
This ballet dancer is more pretty than Mademoiselle P. and her Pavlova is a little ripper !

Bon sang, ça a l'air appétissant, ce dessert (si j'étais un homme je dirais que la jolie dame l'est aussi !)

Oh boy, how clever are you, M. Benaut, to marry a gorgeous lady and one who can cook too! Hmmmm, methinks Madame might have to make one of those Pavlovas next August in Menton! In fact, it's suddenly become a condition of your stay here!

That's what you get for posting luscious photographs like this.

And the pavlova looks nice, too.

Back to look at it again!

Mrs b., do you actually bake the meringue yourself? I suppose you buy the shell and fill it to the brim with fresh fruit?

Oh gosh, oh golly! Such excitement is so wonderful.
Jilly and Nathalie - I'd be delighted to make you both a pavlova. They are luscious indeed.
This one was very easy to make and a collaboration in fact because our friend Ken brought the meringue shell and a carton of double cream and the mixed berries. I added the caster sugar to the cream and whipped it and "iced" the pav case with a very thick layer of thick whipped cream and then it needs to go into the fridge for about 3 hours to harden. To dress is to easy; the strawberries make a gate of sorts and then you just pour the mixed raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and strawberries into the centre; they drizzle through the strawberries. The whole strawberries around the plate are just decorative but of course can be eaten. Slice part way through, leaving the stem on and then fan them out. You can do the same thing with avocado (not for dessert).

Maria: the (slightly crooked) necklace is Tahitian pearl and yes it was rather expensive and a bit of an indulgence on my part. Interestingly enough, I didn't buy it in Tahiti but in Queensland, Australia. When I saw many beautiful pearls in Tahiti earlier this year, I found that the price was comparative for a similar quality of pearl. I have another single pearl of much higher lustre and therefore value and it is an avocado greeny/gold colour and very, very beautiful. I have to say that I adore Tahitian pearls; such an incredible creation, straight from nature.

To all the other wonderful commenters (with a particularly big "thank you" to Dive and Claude), I shall be happy to make lots of pavlovas when you all arrive in Adelaide to visit us.

PS I have to say Nathalie that baking the meringue at home is much more delicious but the convenience of the shell makes it very tempting for the lazy cook!

The Pavlova looks great—I've never made it before. You have done such a lovely job in garnishing it!

And Madame, you looks absolutely radiant.
