Over 100 years ago, Chinese market gardeners, walked many miles to bring their produce to the markets of Adelaide. Many were too poor to own a horse. Today, we have a modern freeway, the only freeway in South Australia.

I was looking at a map of Australia once, and noticed that there are no rivers of any size that empty to the south coast. So if I get this right, there are no rivers and one highway.....We have two rives and no highway :)

Hi, Bill.
Australia's largest and longest river, the Murray, enters the Southern Ocean, just south of Adelaide, the capital.
I'll do some work and send you some links to stuff when I can, soon.
Welcome to Adelaide !

Chinese market gardeners?
That's a bloody long walk, Monsieur! And quite a swim, too.

Freeways seem to look the same all over the world. Efficient and unimaginative.

This is the same image just years apart - yes? That is so sad. Progress often takes us backwards.

Mes amis qui parlent anglais;
As a young boy, I can remember the old road, the main highway between Adelaide and Melbourne. There were hundreds of accidents on the winding road through the hills. Perhaps a fine balance between safety and transportation.
Today I regard this freeway as my "driveway" !

Anonyme, Il me fera beaucoup de plaisir de retourner finalement à Département 34. Vous avez mon adresse électronique ?

I love that black and white photo.

Just joking.
