Aucun travail trop grand

The fire was in the fourth floor of a restaurant building on the corner of the Montée Paul Puaux and the Place de l'Horloge.

It seemed to be a most bonding civic occasion and young and old alike turned out to celebrate the fire. Smiles and good cheer abounded everywhere.

Locals and tourists sat back at the outdoor tables of the town square restaurants and made the most of the conviviality that this fire had brought to town.

New friendships were made and much slapping hit the backs of new-found strangers.

The French seem to bring strangers together in the most pleasant sorts of ways.

What a lovely country; no job too large or too small !!

France has something for everyone. It certainly has something for me.

such instances are great ways to meet strangers and get people talking, don't they? I'm not sure I would have used. I like your term of "bonding civic occasion".

The good news is that no-one was hurt in the fire.

Sorry - one of my sentences was truncated, I'll start again:

Such instances are great ways to meet strangers and get people talking, don't they? I like your term of "bonding civic occasion".

The good news is that no-one was hurt in the fire.

Now that's better.

You have taken so beautiful photos of Avignon and of Mme and Nathalie.
We nee a lot of firemen and policemen.

The strange thing is there is no smoke at all coming from that fourth floor.

My Avignon blogging friend Michel Benoit told me a few days later that the fire had caught in the back kitchen of one of the restaurants on place de l'horloge. Perhaps the tall ladder exercise was only about checking that no-one was trapped upstairs?
