Usine de traitement des eaux usées de Millau

Wherever one travels in the world, an attraction that goes unnoticed is the local sewage treatment works.

With such a fragile environment to protect, the placid and clean River Tarn in Millau would not be fit for recreational and agricultural purposes without this white house nestled in the lovely river valley.

However, as of 2004, in the U.S, 850 billion gallons of raw sewage have been dumped into waterways every year. (Wiki Sara).

With the White House there, about to see a new changing of the guard, these French 'bassins utilisés dans la usine de traitement des eaux usées', hold a slightly greater fascination for me and have produced a better result in creating harmony and joy among those who depend on it.

Congratulations m.benaut for bringing up the question of sewage treatment plants. That's a topic that is also valid in Australia I'm afraid. On the Central Coast where I used to live it seems that the only "treatment" consisted in dumping sewage waters 3 km off the coast, which was deemed far enough from the beaches. Not good enough I'm afraid.

I also remember the huge uproar in QLD (was it in Townsville) where they had plans to have the population drink recycled water. The locals were up in arms about it but I know it's safe. That's what we've been doing in France for years !!!
(and I always drink tap water)

Such works are so essential and those who can't see that have strange-coloured spectacles.

Hoorah for poo farms!
There's a big one a couple of miles downriver from chez Dive to protect the sea from me.
It does a good job as our local beaches are some of the cleanest in Europe.

No new post, m.benaut?

Where did you go after Millau?

Is Montpellier next? I remember you mentioning staying there before arriving in Avignon.

I understand from mrs.benaut's dash to the library that your silence is due to an internet connection glitch. Heavens it's taking forever to get fixed! Will we ever hear from you again?

Les Australiens qui travaillent en short ont peut-être de jolies jambes mais ils ne sont pas rapides pour réparer les connections internet. Je suis fâchée contre eux, je ne les regarderai plus!
