Fatso tiptoes through the tulips.
Our birds love their garden and madame loves to feed them.
They stride around the cats without a care. Fatso and Madame Fatso have at least two chicks in their nest, so now we have to come up with two new names for the young ones, soon. Any suggestions?

What a beautiful bird.
What species are the Fatso family, Monsieur?
I've searched my addled brain for the names of chubby Australians to name their kids after, but I'm shocked to discover I don't KNOW any chubby Aussies.
I suppose Edna and Sir Les would be the nearest I can get.
Hee hee Dive! They are magpies and they are the most amazing birds. I've decided I'm going to write about the whole family of our magpies. At the moment we have 5 but there are babies in the nests. There are an increasing number of fat aussies these days or as M.B would say - those who've been eating their vegemite sandwiches. lol
Edna and Sir Les are best not mentioned in polite company.
On the subject of birds - I just came across this great piece in the book I'm reading:
(All credit to the author Martin Davies)
"Miss Martinez works down at the zoo. Her parrot's died and she wants it stuffed."
"The term is mounted. We only say 'stuffed' if we're trying to be crude."
I told you it was a good book.
Love the quote from the book!
Hmmmmmmmmmmm? How about Abelard and Heloise - after all they look a bit like nuns in a habit - or monks?
lol... Ah little ones in the nest. Considering their habits, why not call them Silver and Gold.
Good Morning Sir! We say this in England whenever we see a magpie. If we don't then it's unlucky. Some say.
Congrats on your new blog Mme. Loving your work.... :)
Le nom est vraiment bien trouvé pour une pie : Nicolas, car on dit : "bavard comme une pie" et notre Nicolas est très bavard, mais il s'est calmé depuis son mariage avec Carla.
A beautiful bird who looks like he could have fun anywhere he wants.
Nice bird but I haven't much ideas about how to name his babies to come!
We've had Leroy and Elroy and Willy and Wally and Maddie and Milly... might be time to take it up a notch and go for Nicholas and Alexandra.
Mrs Fatso btw M.B is called "Missy".
Our other breeding pair are called "Mother" and "Roger".
And "Wally" (a baby from two years ago) simply won't leave the territory. He still cries to me like a baby and like any surrogate mum, I feed him. I feed them mincemeat and grated cheese so they don't end up with a calcium deficiency. They also love the cat biscuits which have taurine in them, for good eyesight.
He is now as big and strong as Fatso (his father) which is why they can't get him to leave. He can outfly all of them.
Lynn: Silver and Gold are beautiful names.
I think the babies should be Pip and Squeak -:)
Amazing to read your story about these birds. Magpies were common in Eastern Washington, where I grew up, but we don't seem to see them in Western Washington state.
Very cool. I suspect the birds probably don't really care what names you choose -:)
Mme Benaut
I see that Nicolas and Carla are famous in Australia like Romeo and Juliette or Paul and Virginie. Why not Charles and Camilla ? Let us know what names you will choice !
I should be interesed in knowing the names of these two baby birds.
In Pigin
black is "blakpela"
and white is "waitpela"
other than that maybe Frank & Ernest
Does she attack you???
So what have you decided? lol.
Lynn - can't decide until Missy decides to show them to us. That won't be until they're fully feathered and fledged.
Jules: no, the magpies never attack and never swoop on me but they have been known to swoop on other people when they have young in their nests.
Claude: "why not Charles and Camilla?" why not indeed. time will tell. We'll let you know.
Chuck: Pip and Squeak are good but to keep it "pure" it would have to be "Bubble and Squeak".
Actually, I'm rather thinking along the lines of "Coco" and "Chanel"!
Please excuse M.B - he's having a little rest this evening but he might be back tomorrow! It's a long weekend and he's off again to the back of beyond so he needs his beauty sleep
